The non-profit hospital in rural India, JSS (jssbilaspur.org), is building an open-source health information system and is in need of assistance with UI/UX design.

JSS runs a multi-nodal hospital, three remote sub-centers and an extensive public health outreach program with 104 community health workers, serving the most marginalized segments of Indian society. In furthering their vision of high-quality healthcare for the poorest of the poor, JSS has set forth the ambitious goal developing a completely open source, digital health information system operating on cloud-based servers and tablet computers. We work directly with the physicians and staff, helping to manage the project, and coordinate the efforts of our many volunteer contributors.

The project already has a growing group of very talented programmers in the US and India, many of whom are PhD an Masters-level computer science students from top universities. What they lack, however, is the UI/UX bandwidth to match our developers’ availability. We are hoping someone might be able to volunteer a few hours a week to this collaborative effort.
