John Bussiere (CD ’13) The Jukebox, 2013 Stop-motion animation (0:0:57)
This film follows a quarter into the metaphysical space of a jukebox, bridging the physical and the tactile with the felt and experienced. What was once a cultural object emblematic of a post-war society, the jukebox transcends its utility into a kind of fiction, a lyrical embodiment of a past that never was. The film was shot using stop-motion photography of cut paper.
In our dynamic world, art reflects conditional reality, and design contributes to further development of global societies. At Parsons School of Design, rigorous practice and critical scholarship prepares students to become leading agents of commentary and change.
