Graphic design and Website Internships at the Guggenheim

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is currently recruiting for internships in the Graphic Design and Website departments for the 2012 spring semester (mid-January through mid-April). Guggenheim internships are available for-credit, though are also open to students and recent graduates not receiving academic credit but who wish to pursue practical training in a museum environment.

Graphic Design
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is currently accepting applications for an internship in the Graphic Design department for spring 2011. Interns in this department would help with the design of printed material for an exhibition that opens in the summer.

Ideal candidates are Graphic Design majors or have numerous graphic design courses. Additionally, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign is essential.

Website
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is currently accepting applications for an internship in the Website department for spring 2012. Interns in this department are exposed to and assist with all areas of website management including design, editing and content production. Website interns will also be involved with special projects and exhibition-related initiatives such as microsites, videos and film shoots; liaising with curatorial staff and outside video team, and some digital communications. Interns will also be required to interface with many other museum departments and staff to ensure their projects are completed successfully.

Ideal candidates will have academic coursework in Art History, English or related fields, coursework in web design or graphic design also applicable. Computer savvy individuals are strongly encouraged to apply. Additionally, familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, basic HTML and Microsoft Office Suite is desired.
