The Getty Foundation‘s Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program is designed to increase diversity in and provide support to Los Angeles-area museums and visual arts organizations by funding multicultural undergraduate internships for the next generation of arts professionals.

The internships are intended specifically for currently enrolled undergraduates and recent graduates residing or attending college in Los Angeles County who are members of groups currently underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations — individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent. Internships should be designed to offer eligible students experience in key areas such as curatorial work, conservation, education, publications, and related programmatic activities.

To be eligible for an internship grant, organizations must be a museum or visual arts organization with 501(c)(3) status located in Los Angeles County.

Eligible organizations may request support for one to three full-time internship positions, each with a salary of $3,500, for a consecutive ten-week work period between June and August 2013. Organizations will receive an additional $500 per internship to assist with administrative costs. Large organizations requesting more than one intern are encouraged to provide at least one position in a curatorial or conservation department. Organizations receiving grants will be responsible for recruiting eligible interns.
