THE ROLE

Flamingo is currently seeking a designer to expand our NYC practice.

Flamingo is a global insight and strategy consultancy working at the intersection of people, culture, and brand. Designers at Flamingo partner with research teams to transform insights into memorable, informative, and emotive client experiences. 

As a creative in a group of strategists, this role requires a unique breed of designer. As a flexible thinker/maker this individual should thrive in a collaborative environments and enjoy working with ethnographic content and complex brand strategy. They must nurture and assert his or her own creative agency while also supporting project challenges and team needs.

It is also important to note that proposals for work are often unconfined to media and format. This offers a unique opportunity to see an idea through, from concept to production. As a result, the role requires internal inspiration and excellent project/time management skills.

This role will also have the opportunity to grow the design offering both within the NYC office and alongside the Senior Designer and broader international Flamingo creative team.

Candidates should have a diverse portfolio of work that demonstrates creative storytelling as well as a strong foundation in visual design (i.e. graphic design). Additional logistical responsibilities will include: toggling a variety of project timelines (anything spanning one day to multiple weeks) as well as assisting with: budgeting, vendor/freelance management, developing design proposals, and various internal design initiatives.

KEY RESULTS AREAS

DESIGN OUTPUT

– To deliver high quality visual materials to meet project/client needs, and also for internal initiatives and presentations as required. (Examples of design deliverables include tangible deliverables such as: branded toolkits, illustrated consumer profiles, infographics, brand books, postcards, pocket guides, project themed artifacts; digital deliverables such as websites, films, diagrams, dynamic presentations, packaging mockups, experience journeys; and experiential deliverables such as: workshop design, exhibition design, art direction, in-session sketching, scavenger hunts, graphic recording)

  • Working closely with the project team to ensure that the content of the work is reflected in the visual style and that the finished product effectively meets client needs
  • Designing materials for Flamingo events, website, e-mailers, brochures and marketing materials, as part of the on-going development of Flamingo’s brand

DESIGN PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize appropriately
  • Develop and maintain a network of suppliers and freelancers
  • Negotiate with suppliers to ensure best rates whilst ensuring high quality of output
  • Provide input into proposals to ensure that design work is costed appropriately

CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLAMINGO’S DESIGN CAPABILITIES AND OFFERING

  •  Promoting the design offering within Flamingo to ensure everyone is aware of capabilities and opportunities, and that it is being suggested to clients accurately
  •  To create ‘promotional’ materials that makes it as easy as possible for the broader research team to communicate and ‘sell’ the offering to clients in proposals, creds presentations, etc.
