A unique Fellowship opportunity for a MFA Design and Technology Graduate Student

The Indianapolis Museum of Art, as part of the Online Scholarly Initiative Grant funded by the Getty Foundation, is offering a unique fellowship opportunity for a qualified MFA DT student. The project involves the research, design and implementation of an eBook for the iPad as an interactive digital catalogue for the exhibition “Aziz + Cucher: SOME PEOPLE” which will open at the IMA in April 2012.

The ideal candidate:
• Seeks to explore the tablet device as a venue for scholarly, artistic publications – an area that is still in its infancy but which shows enormous potential in the art publishing industry.
• Possess a significant background in editorial and/or book design, art catalogs or magazines
• Demonstrates fluency in Adobe InDesign and the Creative Suite CS5.5 with an interest in learning the Digital Publishing Suite platform to distribute eBooks with embedded interaction design as App Store apps.

Project Timeframe: The project will begin in late January 2012 and completion is expected in September 2012.

The Fellow will be expected to work in close collaboration with the Publications Department at the IMA and the artists, Aziz + Cucher. AMT Faculty mentorship will also come from Prof. David Carroll and Prof. Juliette Cezzar.

The Fellowship includes a $5000 stipend as well as possible credit, including “collab” credit as an independent study.

Interested Candidates should submit a CV, cover letter and 3 applicable work samples to studio@azizcucher.net. In subject heading, please write “IMA FELLOWSHIP”
