As one of nine art institutions participating in LG Electronics’ Art of the Pixel program this summer, we are pleased to announce an opportunity to ‘hang out’ with Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor, producer and  director Neil Patrick Harris next Tuesday, July 1 from 3:30 to 4:15 ET.  Neil is also a modern art enthusiast and collector and is looking forward to speaking with art students from around the country in a Google Hangout.  Participation is limited to one student per school and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you are interested, please follow the directions below.

  • Send an email from your school email address to HangoutWithNPH@lg-one.com with your name, school and three questions you would like to ask Neil.  The Hangout will include 2-minute Q&As from all nine schools, so each participant is guaranteed the chance to ask two pre-approved questions.  Additional questions may be asked if time allows.  Please focus your questions and conversation on relevant topics such as Neil’s interest in art, what inspires him creatively and his advice to young artists.  Please be sure to email no later than Friday, June 27 and, again, note that participation will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • In emailing you are confirming that you can meet the technical requirements of the Google Hangout, including:
    • Supported Browsers:  Google Chrome 1O+, Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 8+, Mozilla Firefox 16+ or Safari 4+
    • Supported Operating Systems:  Mac OS X 10.6+, Windows 7, Windows Vista with SP1 or later, Windows XP, Chrome, Ubuntu and other Debian based Linux distributions
    • Connection:  A wired connection, not wireless, with a backup in case your primary fails
    • Webcam:  A high-quality, ideally external, webcam
    • Background:  A quiet, controlled, well-lit space with the light source facing you (behind the webcam).  If external speakers are pointed towards your microphone, use headphones or earbuds.  Please also ensure the space is clean and free of any logos, brands or other visual distractions in the background.

The Art of the Pixel is a competition for outstanding digital or new media artwork for display on LG’s premium Ultra HD 4K TVs and OLED TVs.  These new display technologies are providing the digital canvas to bring each pixel of artwork to life by displaying the ultimate in color, contrast and clarity.  Students participating in the Art of the Pixel competition are strongly encouraged to participate.  Though the Hangout will not be streamed live, it will be recorded and shared at a later date via LG’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ social channels for everyone to enjoy.
