We’re hiring: Openbox, a design consultancy is seeking a graphic designer join the team on a freelance basis. The right candidate will be passionate about translating data, stories, and issues into a creative visual language. You should have experience with designing branding systems, information graphics, and promotional materials. This is a unique opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team that applies human centered design methods to a wide range of sectors and topics.

We seek: Graphic Designer with 2-4 years of experience for 20-30 hours per week.  Preference will be given to designers skilled at visually converting qualitative and quantitative research into information graphics and those with experience in translating strategic thinking into clear, simple, and beautiful visual language. Proficiency in design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Apple Keynote is required for this position.

What we’ve been working on: Recently, Openbox’s cross-functional team has created a report distributed at the Clinton Global Initiative, on how human-centered design and systems thinking help evaluate social impact in Haiti. In the last year, some of our favorite projects have included producing a documentary film on arts and expression in South Africa and working with the Lowline, the world’s first underground park, to develop a community engagement strategy through participatory design. We’re currently kicking-off two new projects–one with a children’s literacy platform and the other with a leading arts organization developing progressive methodologies for theater.

Compensation: The position will start on a project basis but could grow into a full-time position for the right candidate. We offer competitive pay and a collaborative team-based environment.
