This workshop offers new pathways for visual artists to engage with the creative application of novel materials and technology. The aim is to encourage participants to learn values and new art practices so as they can explore new forms of expression in interactive art and design projects. During the workshop participants will develop their own interactive collage. We will use the AgIC’s circuit marker kit. No previous experience with electronics needed.
The MFA Design Technology welcomes Illustration, Fine Arts, and Communication Design students who are interested in basic circuits or an introduction to technology tools.
Paola Guimerans is an artist, interaction designer and educator. Her artistic exploration investigates materials, techniques and processes for blending soft electronics and computation as a medium for creating expressive and personally meaningful technological arts. Through her professional artistic practices, Paola questions how to combine E-textiles and virtual media in order to explore new aesthetic alternatives and interactive means based on her drawings’ narratives. Thus, she points a critical aspect of how technology has been demystifying traditional possible methods by helping non technical people to use technology that influences conceptual and aesthetics in the recent field of New Media art with focuses on Visual Arts & Craft practices of making with electronics.
In our dynamic world, art reflects conditional reality, and design contributes to further development of global societies. At Parsons School of Design, rigorous practice and critical scholarship prepares students to become leading agents of commentary and change.
