CD Alumna Ji Hyun Park’s senior thesis project, “Pocket of Sky” is a kit that is designed to help New Yorkers slow down in their fast-paced life by connecting with nature.

It encourages them to go out and create their own intimate moments in places where they can take time to look up at the sky and reflect on themselves.

Each kit, which represents Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, is represented by a specific color and it consists of three parts ( essential items for specific seasons to encourage users to go out)

These items are – a throw blanket for spring/ a scarf for winter, a journal for documentation and contemplation and a set of post cards to share the journey with others.

What were your favorite classes at Parsons?

My favorite class was book design which was taught by Andrew Schrutz. It was a great opportunity to explore various types of book design and binding techniques.

What did you wish you knew as a student that you know now?

I wish I had more understanding of the thesis project and knew what I want from my thesis even earlier.
