Biography
Qamile Dani is a graphic designer who focuses on print, web, motion and identity design. She has recently received her degree in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design in NYC and minored in Printmaking.  She has also been rewarded for being on the Dean’s List for her Fall 2017 semester. She loves being challenged when it comes to tackling and solving issues with design. In car rides, she’ll attempt to identify every typeface she sees; mentally if alone, or with friends out loud, even if they aren’t designers or typographers. She also loves makeup and taking care of her three cats and dog in Long Island, New York.Process
The project has originated from different ideas: life, death, our mental states, mental illness, awareness, disabilities in people, and narrowed it down to the idea of acknowledging mental health issues in children. It was important to create awareness for this issue in a fun and interactive way that wouldn’t scare or bore the user, to make sure they comprehend the data they may receive in the most comfortable way.Project Description
Spaced Out is an interactive game that tests a user’s literacy skills and is a preliminary diagnostic tool to determine if the user may or may not have dyslexia, the most common learning disability. Children with this illness have trouble reading accurately and fluently. They may also have trouble with reading comprehension, spelling, and writing. In this game, the user’s literary skills are being tested to determine whether further testing is warranted. Level of difficulty is based on their age and grade level and is targeted to children through grade levels 1–8. The design choices of this project were made to keep users excited, encouraged, and determined to complete the assessment. This game is meant to be downloaded and played on a desktop or tablet screen that allows for high-detailed flat-graphics, animations, and questions to answer.Advice
