AIGA/NY is seeking a part-time communications and events manager. The assistant will be responsible for amplifying and maintaining the public voice of the chapter through its website, email, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, following a strategic communication plan developed with the Communications committee and the board of directors. In addition, the assistant will be responsible for front-of-house on-site event ticketing, registration, and sales for all events, including preparation prior to the events (such as, but not limited to, managing attendee lists, book purchasing and returns, and creating volunteer schedules). The event season runs from September through June, and averages four events per month. This is a 20 hours/week contract position, reporting to the Director of Operations.

We are looking for someone who:

– has affection for and knowledge of design and the design community

– spots communication issues, then advocates for and implements solutions

– has excellent interpersonal skills

– understands how social media works and the etiquette for each platform

– is totally at home with both WordPress and Google Docs

– can find their way around unfamiliar software as needed, whether for ticketing or analytics

– is completely organized when it comes to email

– is completely organized when it comes to calendars and schedules

– understands how to communicate mission, past activities, and future activities over time
